METAMORPHOSIS ACADEMY
Metamorphosis is part of True Butterflies Foundation, a specialist organisation dedicated to supporting children and families affected by abuse. We provide compassionate, tailored support that helps individuals begin their recovery journey, rebuild confidence, and move towards a brighter future.
Our specialist Alternative Provision (AP) supports children who may be attending school part-time, are currently unable to access mainstream education, or require a more personalised learning environment. We recognise that every child’s experiences and needs are different, which is why our approach is built around understanding, trust, and individual support.
With a dedicated team of experienced teachers, mentors, and counsellors, we create a safe and nurturing space where children can learn, heal, and develop both academically and emotionally. Through personalised education, therapeutic support, and positive relationships, we work alongside children, families, and professionals to help each child reach their full potential.
At Metamorphosis, we believe that with the right support, every child has the ability to grow, recover, and thrive. Our aim is to provide a pathway that supports not only education, but the wellbeing and future success of every child we work with.
About Our Alternative Provision
Metamorphosis is a specialist Alternative Provision supporting children and young people affected by abuse, trauma, and challenging life experiences. We provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment for children who may be unable to access mainstream education or require a more personalised approach to learning and wellbeing.
Our provision is built around the understanding that every child’s journey is unique. We offer tailored educational programmes alongside emotional and pastoral support, helping children rebuild confidence, develop positive relationships, and re-engage with learning at their own pace.
Our experienced team of teachers, mentors, and counsellors work closely with each child, their families, and relevant professionals to create individual support plans that address both educational needs and personal recovery. We focus on creating a stable environment where children feel valued, understood, and empowered to achieve their potential.
At Metamorphosis, we believe education is not only about academic progress — it is about helping children heal, grow, and develop the skills they need for a positive future.
Who We Support
Metamorphosis supports children and young people who have experienced abuse, trauma, and adverse life experiences that may have affected their emotional wellbeing, confidence, behaviour, and ability to access mainstream education.
We provide specialist Alternative Provision for children who may be:
-
Out of mainstream education or finding it difficult to attend school regularly
-
Accessing education on a part-time timetable
-
Affected by abuse, neglect, domestic abuse, or other traumatic experiences
-
Experiencing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges that impact learning
-
In need of a smaller, nurturing, and more personalised learning environment
-
Requiring additional support to rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and re-engage with education
We work with children and young people as individuals, recognising their strengths, experiences, and aspirations. Our aim is to provide a safe and supportive space where they can feel heard, develop positive relationships, continue their education, and take steps towards a brighter future.
Through close collaboration with families, schools, local authorities, and professionals, we ensure each child receives the right support at the right time.
Our pathway
From referral to recovery — our process is designed around each child’s individual needs, experiences, and goals.
1. Referral
A referral can be made by a professional (such as a school, SENCO, social worker, local authority, or other supporting service) or by a parent/carer. Once received, we review the referral and aim to respond promptly to discuss the child’s needs and how we can support them.
2. Assessment & Understanding Needs
We take the time to understand each child as an individual — their experiences, strengths, interests, challenges, and aspirations. We work closely with families and professionals to identify the right support approach and ensure the child is matched with staff and support that can build a positive, trusting relationship.
3. Personalised Support Plan
Every child receives a tailored plan that combines education, emotional support, and personal development. Our programmes are designed around the child’s learning style, interests, and goals, helping them rebuild confidence, engage with learning, and develop new skills in a way that feels safe and achievable.
4. Sessions Begin
Children access 1:1 or small group sessions in a supportive environment, at our support hub . We adapt to meet individual needs, focusing on learning, wellbeing, confidence-building, and preparation for the next stage of their journey.
